Apple unveiled the AR/VR platform with Vision Pro while announcing the new updates on 5 June during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference.
The new product features exterior cameras, allowing users to interact with digital content in mixed reality.
A user can control it with hands, eyes, and voice. Calling it a 'spatial journey', CEO Tim Cook said, "Relive your most important memories in an entirely new way."
Features: As per details, the Vision Pro arrives at the home view, a floating set of icons with Apple’s most used apps, including mail, music, messages, and safari, when users don the headset. Also, the new product doesn’t need controllers or hardware.
It can track eyes to highlight the preferred icon when users look at a particular icon.
Vision Pro's multi-tasking is enabled and has been made to visualize images and three-dimensional renders in a mixed-reality environment. The firm claimed that Vision Pro will make travel much easier with collaborative functionality.
Disney Plus will be available on Apple Vision Pro to mark 100 years of Disney.
The technology behind, how it works: Apple Vision Pro's foundation is the Apple M2 chip which is enabled with a new chip called R1, especially for sensor processing. The product comes with 12 cameras, five sensors, and six mics.
Apple said that the new system will work on visionOS, which is the first of its kind. “visionOS is the first OS designed for the ground up for spatial computing,” said an Apple executive.
Privacy and Security: The new system is enabled with an authentication system called Optic ID, which can be paired with a keyboard. Apple claims that it can be used with iris, data is encrypted, and works with Secure Enclave.
The new Apple Vision Pro will be available early next year and has been priced at $3,499.
CEO Tim Cook delivered a keynote address marking the opening of the event.
The event emanated from the firm's ring-shaped Apple Park corporate headquarters in Cupertino, California, and will take place from June 5-9.
