Market performance in 2025 was mixed, with the Nifty 50 scaling a record high of 26,326 on December 1 and posting annual gains of 10.2%. Meanwhile, Sensex has gained up to 8% in last one year.

Sberbank will invest in India's capital markets, enabling Russian investors to access the Nifty50 index. Amid sanctions, the bank aims to expand its operations in India, launching investment instruments for Russian investors while bolstering bilateral trade.

According to the 2025 stock market holiday calendar issued by the exchanges earlier this year, a total of 14 trading holidays were scheduled.

Investor confidence has returned to the Indian stock market, leading to a robust rally in the Nifty 50 index, which is nearing its record high. The positive trend is supported by strong earnings, foreign investments, and government initiatives to boost consumption.

On October 17, the Indian stock market rose for the third session, with the Nifty 50 reaching a one-year high of 25,781. Positive banking results, easing geopolitical tensions, and expectations of a U.S. rate cut fueled investor confidence, pushing the index closer to its all-time high.

In the past year, the Nifty 50 rose only 0.78%, underperforming compared to Asian markets and dragging India’s global market share to a two-year low. Despite challenges, some constituents like Bajaj Finance and Eicher Motors saw significant gains, with returns between 20% and 47%.

Over the last seven trading sessions, the Nifty 50 has fallen 3.10% and is on track to close September with a modest gain. September’s market performance can be seen in two halves. In the first half, sentiment remained bullish, but it quickly reversed following the H-1B visa fee hike.

Indian equities faced their fifth consecutive session of losses, with the Nifty 50 dropping below 25,000. Analysts expect limited recovery potential due to ongoing selling by overseas investors and lack of fresh market triggers.
