Pune airport's runway was temporarily closed late Friday after an Indian Air Force fighter aircraft suffered an undercarriage failure on landing. The aircrew are safe. Here's what we know.

HAL CMD DK Sunil said that the Indian Air Force's Tejas light combat jets are set to come back to the skies as early as next week, after being grounded for nearly two months.

The jet, which was on a training mission, crashed approximately 60 km from Jorhat air base, from where it had taken off on Thursday evening.

A HAL Tejas jet of the Indian Air Force was reportedly damaged after overshooting a runway on 7 February, likely due to brake failure; the pilot ejected safely, and the fleet was temporarily grounded.

A Tejas light combat aircraft of the IAF was damaged after it overshoot the runway. This marks third accident in 2 years. The IAF has grounded its fleet of Tejas jets for technical checks.

India has approved a ₹3.6 lakh crore boost to its armed forces, including 114 new Rafale fighter jets and P-8I reconnaissance aircraft, amid rising tensions with neighbours.

As per the proposal, India will purchase 18 off-the-shelf Rafales from French manufacturer Dassault Aviation, while the remaining 96 fighter jets will be made in partnership with private sector companies in India. A number of these jets would be twin-seater aircraft to be used for training.
