Two-day bank strike begins: Several bank branches likely to be closed
If the two-day strike is a success, banks will be open only for three days this week Monday, Thursday and Friday as second Saturday is again a weekly holiday. Out of nine, only two bank unions are however supporting today's strike.

Bank of Baroda, which is being merged with two other PSU banks Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank, has warned that if the bank employee unions sit on strike, the functioning of the bank's branches in some of the zones may be affected. Similar warnings has been issued by other state-run banks as well, ahead of the strike call on January 8 and 9.
