The proposed strike, which follows a one-day nationwide strike on 11 September, would coincide with the half-yearly closing of banks on 30 September, disrupting customer and government transactions.

Banking services impacted as unions go on nationwide strike to press for 5-day workweek

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank CEO Sanjeev Nautiyal has resigned due to health reasons, effective immediately. He will retire formally on 30 November. Carol Furtado is appointed interim CEO. The bank said Nautiyal’s tenure had helped strengthen several areas of its operations.

Private and public sector banks in India will observe two holidays next week, on May 23 and 24, as per RBI's schedule. Customers are advised to check local branches for specific holiday applicability, while online banking services remain available for transactions during these closures.
