Cockroach Janta Party

Five days since it began, the online campaign with the unofficial party name, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has become one of the biggest political campaigns in India on the internet in recent years.

Abhijeet is a 30-year-old student studying at Boston University in the United States. He just completed a two-year master's in Public Relations from the University.

Saurav Das, an investigative journalist, has been appointed chief spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party, alongside political researcher Vijeta Dahiya and former consultant Ashutosh Ranka. The appointments have been announced just ahead of Dipke’s planned return to India on June 6.

What began as a satirical online joke soon after a remark by the Chief Justice of India has exploded into one of social media’s biggest talking points. The Cockroach Janta Party, with its unusual slogan and viral manifesto, is now drawing reactions from netizens.

The CJP instagram account initially blew past 3 million Instgram followers within 78 hours and has since surged to over 9 million on 20 May making it perhaps the fastest-growing internet phenomena in Indian political discourse in recent times.

The struggle for independence is embedded in India’s protest culture. From the Chipko movement for environmental conservation to the Mandal Commission protests against caste-based reservations, the right to protest has been India’s democratic lifeline.

In an conversation with LiveMint from US, 30-year-old Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of Cockroach Janta Party campaign, said the campaign positions itself as ‘the voice of the lazy and unemployed’ and admitted he had never anticipated such an overwhelming response.

Satya Niketan collapse: In its seventh demand, Cockroach Jant Party has sought accountability from Delhi Urban Development, Planning and Education Minister Ashish Sood.

In a post on social media, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the focus should rathe be on improving the country's education system so that more personalities such as Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Rabindranath Tagore could emerge and receive quality education.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Rajasthan government said financial approval of ₹12 lakh was issued from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) fund on August 13, 2026. Additionally, ₹6 lakh has been approved from the MLA fund.
