The bank said the fundraising will be carried out in a single or multiple tranches under Reg-S/144A through public offers or private placements of fixed or floating rate bonds denominated in US dollars or other major foreign currencies.

The issuance aims to tap overseas investors and is expected to support general corporate purposes, including funding overseas operations and refinancing liabilities.

State Bank of India listed its $500 million Regulation S bonds at NSE-IX in Gift City. The bonds, issued through its London branch, received strong demand with a final order book exceeding $1.1 billion and are benchmarked against the five-year US Treasury.

The rating agencies did not specify the amount that the London Branch of State Bank of India (SBI) will raise through the issuance of dollar-denominated bonds.
