The 17th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit witnessed a heated debate on issues regarding the Constitution, Indian citizenship, and crime. All India Trinamool Congress' Mahua Moitra, Indian National Congress' Manish Tewari and BJP's Jamyang Tsering Namgyal faced off over the Citizenship Amendment Bill recently cleared by the Union Cabinet. The three Members of Parliament also discussed the rape and murder of a veterinary doctor in Telangana and the subsequent encounter killing of the accused.

Will cause resentment; bid to deflect: Congress CMs on NRC, Citizenship Bill

Chief Ministers of Punjab and Chhattisgarh attended the 17th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. Captain Amarinder Singh and Bhupesh Baghel commented on a host of issues, including the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill and the National Register of Citizens. While Singh called NRC a source of resentment, Baghel said the issue was a bid to divert people's attention.

#HTLS2019: Watch FM Nirmala's response on whether govt will cut income tax

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended Day 2 of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2019. She was in conversation with R. Sukumar, Editor-in-Chief, Hindustan Times. When asked whether the government is mulling an income tax cut, Sitharaman said that a host of methods to boost consumption are being considered by the government. She added that people would have to wait for the next Union Budget to get a definite answer. She also spoke on harassment faced by tax assessees and the NDA administration's efforts to curb it.
