Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a push for lateral entry into the bureaucracy during his address at the 17th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. PM Modi said that his government is rewarding performance and not privilege. The Prime Minister added that it is heartening to see people letting go of posh jobs to come work for the government and said that domain experts who are not part of the civil services should also be incorporated into governance.
