Indian benchmarks Sensex and Nifty 50 closed mixed as geopolitical tensions escalated, affecting market sentiments. Sensex ended 64 points higher, while Nifty fell. Oil prices increased, adding pressure to India's economy. Only 16 Nifty stocks gained, with FMCG and banking names showing resilience.

BSE barometer Sensex closed the day at 74,243, lower by 117 points or 0.16%. Meanwhile, NSE Nifty ended at 23,366.70, down 49.85 or 0.21%.

The Indian stock market resumed its losing run after a one-day hiatus on Wednesday, 3 June, although it closed significantly off the day's low, signalling some low-level buying by investors.

Stock market today: The Sensex ended with a gain of 118 points, or 0.16%, at 75,318.39, while the Nifty 50 settled at 23,659, up 41 points, or 0.17%.

Buying in Sun Pharma, index heavyweight Reliance Industries and select banking and IT counters drove Sensex and Nifty 50 higher even as the headwinds emanating from the US-Iran war lingered.

The Sensex ended 326 points, or 0.44%, higher at 74,532.96 as investors booked profits amid persisting geopolitical uncertainties. The Nifty 50 ended with a gain of 112 points, or 0.49%, at 23,114.50.

The Sensex ended 27 points, or 0.03%, lower at 82,248.61, while the Nifty 50 inched up by 14 points, or 0.06%, to settle at 25,496.55. The BSE 150 MidCap Index clocked a decent gain of 0.55%, while the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose by 0.07%.

The Indian stock market ended February 25 with modest gains, as key indices recovered slightly. IT stocks rallied after previous losses, while metal and auto sectors supported the indices. The Nifty 50 rose 0.23%, and broader markets outperformed frontline indices.
