Shark Tank judge Namita Thapar is the latest to jump into the 'demographic duty' debate, which started after Sridhar Vembu, the founder and former chief executive officer of Zoho Corp., advised young entrepreneurs to marry and have children early in life, as “a demographic duty to society”. Vembu, who returned to India in 2019-20 after spending nearly two decades in the US, was reposting Upasana Konidela—founder of wellness platform URLife—who during her recent visit to IIT Hyderabad found that male students are more willing to get married than women. “The women seemed far more career-focused!!!! India’s fintech war just got its newest challenger. Home-grown tech giant Zoho has officially launched ‘Zoho Pay’, its new payments app built to rival Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. The app promises a seamless UPI experience while integrating directly with Zoho’s chat app Arattai and its business software suite , giving users and enterprises an all-in-one digital payments ecosystem. Founder Sridhar Vembu says Zoho Pay is about “home-grown tech powering home-grown payments”, as India pushes for tech sovereignty and reduced reliance on foreign fintech.

India's homegrown SaaS major company Zoho may be planning to foray into the commercial semiconductor space. As per reports, Zoho has submitted a proposal for a semiconductor manufacturing unit to be set up in Tamil Nadu, where the company has its headquarters -- with an initial investment outlay of about 700 million dollars. In fact, Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu reacting to these reports said that while they weren't ready to announce anything yet, but this technology is vital for India and companies needed to step up investment in the semiconductor space.
