Apple’s lawsuit against OpenAI has intensified with a new court filing accusing the AI company of not only stealing trade secrets but actively destroying evidence. The claims centre on Chang Liu, a former Apple iPhone engineer who joined OpenAI in January — one of over 400 former Apple employees now at the firm. Forensic analysis of an Apple-issued MacBook recently provided by OpenAI allegedly shows Liu maintained unauthorised access to Apple’s cloud storage after leaving and instructed a colleague to destroy evidence. Apple also claims Liu used a tool at OpenAI that shared the name of an internal Apple engineering application.
