The Union Commerce Minister, on June 24, informed major tech and e-commerce companies that India's draft e-commerce policy will not deal with the issue of cross-border data flows. The issue pertains to the storage of data within certain jurisdictions. The earlier draft of the policy had proposed rules making the storage of digital data, from various sources and activities, mandatory within India.
