India’s Chip-Making Plans Flounder; After Vedanta, ISMC’s Plans Hit A Snag

In 2022, PM Modi launched the ambitious Semicon India with much gusto and fanfare. But a year later India’s chip-making plans are yet to take off. After Vedanta-Foxconn, now ISMC’s plans to manufacture semiconductor chips in India have come to a stall. Intel’s takeover of chipmaker Tower has left ISMC which counted Tower as a tech partner stranded.
