China along with Afghanistan’s neighbour to East Pakistan agreed to strengthen ties by extending the Beijing-backed CPEC or China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Afghanistan. Desperate for friends, money, trade, and technology Afghanistan didn’t have much of a choice.
