According to IPBES, nearly one million animal and plant species are at risk of extinction. As of 2024, the IUCN Red List includes over 14,000 species as threatened due to climate change.

Bramble Cay Melomys

The Bramble Cay melomys was a small rodent native to the tiny Bramble Cay island in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Sadly, the rising sea level led to its extinction.
